A NOTE ABOUT THE INPT ONLY LIST - NEVER USE THE INPATIENT ONLY LIST

Always use addendum B, which lists all surgeries and indicates inpatient only surgeries by a "C" in the column labeled SI, for status indicator. Non-inpatient only surgery will be SI = J1 or T.
The Inpt only list will trick you! You'll look at it and see "Total hip arthroplasty" on the list for 2022. But if you look carefully, that surgery is CPT 27132, and a code book will tell you that 27132 is revision arthroplasty, which is going back on the list, and 27130 is the routine hip replacement and it is not on the inpatient list. If you looked at addendum B, you would see two surgeries labeled "total hip arthroplasty" and realize you have to dig deeper.
Don't fall into this trap. Don't trust the descriptors to pick a surgery- you need the CPT code and the whole list!
